Tummy Time

Since Jotham is now a month old he can now start his Tummy Time to work on head control and strength. He has started doing this every night with my mom, his DD, and he is very strong already!!

Baby Showers!!

Well, normally you get the baby showers before the baby, but since Jotham decided he would arrive before we expected...we did it in reverse order! It was so much fun to see everyone and be showered with such blessings! Thank you to all who helped to put things together for us. We love you!!

The Corbean Heir

Since Corbean is not a very common name...if you know a Corbean then they're probably related to us! Philip's brother, Ryan, and his wife, Ashley, have one daughter, Alexa. Philip's sister, Jennifer, and her husband, Dan, have two girls, Autumn and Lizzy (however they no longer carry the Corbean name). So, the running joke throughout Morgan's pregnancy was that she was carrying the only Corbean Heir. So, Ryan, Ash and Alexa sent this special suit to Jotham to commemorate his status as the "Corbean Heir."

One Month Old!!!

Jotham turned 1 month old on September 23rd!! He loves his Daddy!! He also loves his pacifier, but only for a minute or two then he gets bored with it. He thinks he has to lay to the side in order to use the pacifier. He's so funny!

Jotham & Papa Joe

Jotham staring at his Papa Joe...who knows what he's thinking?!

All dressed up with no where to go! Sitting very handsomely in his new outfit courtesy of Steve, Allison & Angus Tucker. Oh and thanks Mrs. Teresa Cook for the cute socks too!!

Late Night Football Game

Jotham got his bath during halftime of a late night FSU game and he's sporting his new football sleeper courtesy of his Great Grandma (Mamaw) and Great Grandpa (Papaw) Powell. Thanks Mamaw & Papaw! Love you!!

Uncle Alan & Mert Visit

Jotham got a visit from his Uncle Al and Mert. What a special treat?! Jotham really liked having Mert sing to him and play with him and he just likes sitting with his Uncle Al.

NOLE BABY!!

GO SEMINOLES!!! Jotham kicked off the FSU season in style with his 'Nole Baby' game gear courtesy of his DD and Papa Joe. He loves the Garnet & Gold!! He'll have to grow into his cap a bit, but oh what fun we'll have during football season. He's already working on the touchdown cheer.

Burp!!

With all the eating comes lots of burping! Jotham is not fond of being burped. He fights and squirms when it's time to be burped. This picture was taken after the fighting, squirming, choking and them finally burping...it's a face of shock, exhaustion and relief!

Jotham's Bouncer

Jotham has started to stay awake a little more during the late afternoon and early evening time. So, he has been able to test out his bouncer. He really likes it! It has a soothing vibrating function on it that calms his tummy. For the first week that he got to use it...he had not yet reached the 6lb minimum requirement to use the bouncer so we had to hold the head rest down for him. Now he has surpassed the minimum weight requirement and can sit in it on his own!!

Eat, Eat, Eat!!!

After arriving home our first concern was getting his BR count up so he could come off of the light. We had to take 24 hours shifts to watch him. If his goggles came off and his eyes were exposed to the light then he could have permanent damage to his vision. The nursery at the hospital had a 30 minute rule, so we had a 30 minute rule. We checked to make sure his goggles were on every 30 minutes...so we were up around the clock for the first 3 days in shifts. He was finally able to come off of the light and we were soooooo happy!! Praise God!

The second thing we were concerned with was his body temperature. We had to check his temperature every 30 minutes because it could not stay low for more than an hour or we had to take him back to the hospital. We called Mrs. Jan Moore (who we love dearly) and told her our problem and she let us borrow a oscillating heater from Northside Baptist Church to keep by his bed. It worked great!

Also, we had to fatten up baby Jotham so our days were spent eating a lot!! Dr. V and Dr. Stewart (who we love, love, love) had me "feeding on demand" until he was released from weekly weight checks (no Babywise yet). And boy did we do that!! About every 2 hours. Kelly Smith was sent from God to help us while in the hospital! She helped us learn how to feed preemies. They are a struggle to feed because they are so difficult to arouse when it's time to eat. Like she says, "they just weren't through sleeping and growing yet." Philip was such a help with him also!! He's such a good Daddy! Jotham was very easy going and was so cooperative about nursing with Mommy or taking a bottle with his Daddy.

He came from the hospital weighing 4lbs 12oz. His first weight check was 5lbs 3oz and he was almost back up to his birth weight. At his second weekly weight check he weighed in at 5lbs 12oz. Still growing and eating!! At his third weekly weight check he weighed in at 6lbs 7oz!! Now we do not have to go back to the doctor for 5 weeks!! Praise the Lord!! He's still in preemie diapers, but I know he'll be in Newborns soon!

Welcome Jotham!

Well our baby boy decided he was ready to arrive and he did it on his time table! Morgan's water broke around 9pm on August 22, 2009 with no warning. After 18 hours, Jotham Carey Corbean was born August 23, 2009 at 3:01pm at 34 weeks weighing in at 5lbs 5oz and 18in long!!! Mom and baby were both on IV fluids and antibiotics for a few days. Since Jotham dropped his weight down to 4lbs 9oz they had to stay in the hospital while he tried to gain back some weight. He struggled with Jaundice for a while also keeping us from taking him home. He also struggled with keeping his body temperature up due to being a preemie. Our God is so good and faithful in all He does. We sure do see His hand of provision and protection in the birth of our son.
